LSU defensive back Jacoby Stevens will wear number seven this fall, a number he wore in high school.

Tigers coaches award the coveted jersey number to a player it deems an "x-factor."

“What this number means to me is to be complete – to be a complete person on and off the field,” Stevens said in a release. “That’s how my parents raised me. To be a complete person in everything I do whether it’s in football or in life. I can go on and on about wearing this number and what it means to me. It’s a huge honor.”

Stevens wore the number in high school inspired by former Tiger great Patrick Paterson. The number was initially assigned to Ja'Marr Chase before he opted out.

In Ed Orgeron fashion, the Tigers handed out two number 18 jerseys Friday, too. Senior running back Chris Curry and linebacker Damone Clark will wear the number awarded to senior leaders.

Orgeron has given out a jersey to both and offensive and defensive player since taking over as head coach.
