UPDATE: Jane Slater of the NFL Network reports there a contractual holdup preventing Nielsen from leaving the Saints. Slater reports there is a disagreement to whether or not he can leave. and New Orleans has not signed off on the move.

LSU is reportedly close to hiring Saints assistant Ryan Nielsen as its defensive coordinator.
According to the NFL Network's Jane Slater, LSU is close to a deal with Nielsen, New Orleans' defensive line coach.
Nielsen has coached in New Orleans since 2017. Neilsen played for LSU head coach Ed Orgeron at USC, and was on his Ole Miss coaching staff. Nielsen spent time at NC State where he was nominated for the Broyles Award, twice.
