REPORT: LSU coaching search narrows on Brady assistants

LSU is reportedly narrowing its coaching search on a pair of Carolina Panthers assistants, Jake Peetz and DJ Mangas.

Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports reports that Peetz, Carolina's quarterbacks coach, is interviewing for the offensive coordinator role, while Mangas, an offensive assistant, would serves as the passing game coordinator. Both work closely with former LSU assistant Joe Brady, who earned the Boyles Award in 2019 and earned immense praise for LSU's historic championship season. Mangas was also an analyst that 2019 team.

LSU offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger retired from on-field coaching at the conclusion of the season.

On the defensive side of the ball, WLWT in Cincinnati reports that Bearcats defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman is interviewing in Baton Rouge this week. Cincinnati football finished the season 9-1, holding half of its opponents under 14 points this season. The Bearcats lone loss came in the Peach Bowl to Georgia 24-21.
