LSU football coach Ed Orgeron won't put it in ink, but said after practice Thursday that Max Johnson would likely start. He has taken first team reps in practice this week.

Orgeron spoke highly of the freshman earlier in the week. Johnson, the son of Super Bowl winning quarterback Brad Johnson, completed 63.5 percent of his passes for 395 yard and two touchdowns this year. Most importantly, he hasn't thrown an interception.

Johnson has played in LSU's last three games, spelling fellow freshman T.J. Finley. Finley got the initial nod as the starter after Myles Brennan got hurt. His athleticism was touted early as a strength, but the Ponchatoula native has struggled to produce on the ground or in the air as of late. In his last two games, Finley is a combined 23-53, for 262 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. He's carried the ball just 8 times for -3 yards in that time-frame.

LSU plays at no. 6 Florida Saturday. Orgeron said he'd make a final decision Friday.
