LSU head coach Ed Orgeron confirms more players are considering opting out for the season.

In the last few days, potential first rounds picks Ja'Marr Chase and Tyler Shelvin chose to walk away from the program, bringing the team's total to four.

"Guys opt out for different reasons, that's the times we're living in," Orgeron said in a Zoom conference Tuesday.

Chase (WR) is the defending Biletnikoff winner, Shelvin (NG,) a Lafayette native, is considered a first round pick by some. They joined Neil Farrell and Kary Vincent who stepped away early in August.

With these departures, LSU is down to just five remaining starters from 2019's National Championship team.

"There are some opportunities for new guys to step in," Orgeron added. "We have a roster that can handle that. Obviously I don't want anyone else to opt out, I'm hopeful that's the last one, but it might not be, but we have to deal with it."

LSU opens the year on Saturday, September 26th against Mississippi State.
