Brennan returns to practice, Orgeron vows to be patient

LSU quarterback Myles Brennan is back at practice Monday, but whether or not he'll start remains up in the air.

"I don't know yet if he's going to play. He may play. It all depends how practice goes this week," Orgeron Said. "We're only going to do about 25% with him today, see what he can do, feel it. Probably going to be sore."

Brennan suffered a core injury in the loss to Missouri. He was listed as doubtful ahead of the Florida game, which was canceled, and he did not practice for South Carolina, though he dressed.

Freshman TJ Finley started for LSU and played well in his debut. He completed 17 of 21 passes for 265 yards, and two touchdowns.

"I thought TJ did a tremendous job of delivering the football on time," said Orgeron. "I told y'all he has a cannon for an arm. I was so pleased with TJ's poise. He looked like a veteran out there."

The debut sparked a conversation of whether or not there was a quarterback competition. Brennan's strong start has largely been overshadowed by the 1-2 start. Brennan is completing 60-percent of his passes for 1,112 yards and 11 touchdowns. Orgeron backed Brennan Saturday and reiterated his support Monday.

"If Myles is healthy, he's our first team quarterback, but I'm not putting him in unless he's 100%."
