AUSTIN (KATC) – For maybe the first time in his life, Mondo Duplantis was topped by a peer.
The Lafayette native and superstar vaulter was topped by South Dakota’s Chris Nilsen Wednesday at the NCAA Track & Field meet.
Nilsen vaulted 5.85m then watched the collegiate record holder miss his final attempt.
In his first year at LSU, Duplantis broke the college vault record (6.00m) and win the NCAA Indoor Championship.
Nilsen is now a 2-time NCAA Pole Vault Champion.
