BREAUX BRIDGE (KATC) — Breaux Bridge Wide Receiver Dartravien Girod was supposed to have a breakout season in 2017. Then two games in, those dreams were cut short.
Then a sophomore, Girod was ruled out for the season after breaking his right ankle. The injury required six screws and a plate inserted into his ankle. The diagnosis had Girod down, until he saw one of his favorite players suffer a similar fate.
"I seen Odell Beckham broke his ankle," Girod said. "That same year. I'm like damn. It happens to the best of them. I'm watching football like. I want to be on the field."
Girod returned with a vengeance as a Junior. The Tigers star finished with 38 catches for close to 800 yards and 10 TDs in 2018.
