While we're not in an official signing window for high school athletes, that didn't stop North Central's Derrick Tezeno from picking Stephen F. Austin Friday.

Tezeno chose the Lumberjacks of offers from Hawaii, Southern Miss, and New Orleans.

The senior guard has helped lead North Central to consecutive state titles. He's scored of 4,000 career points having played varsity since seventh grade.

He says SFA fit stylistically.

"I like their style of play," he said. "They're hard-nosed and play like my high school does does now. I feel like it'll be an easy transition and like they're contenders."

Tezeno can't formally sign until April 1st, but chose Friday on the five-year anniversary of his cousin Travon Edwards' murder. He dedicated his signing ceremony Friday to him.
