Pine Prairie Panthers
2017 Record: 3-7
How it Happened: Once again, 3-7 limited the Panthers to another losing season. Pine Prairie has record 3-7 records each season dating back 2014, but the Panthers showed progress in 2017 and were a break or two from a few more wins.
Yves Prince’s team is so close you can almost taste. The Panthers haven’t ever had a winning season, at least not that we can tell. (A 2014 Daily World article quoted Prince that 3-wins set a program record) But in 2017 they sat a few breaks away from doing just that. Beau Chene used a 20-point fourth quarter comeback to beat the Panthers by one. A 9-win Iota team edged the Panthers 14-7. Pine Prairie competed in many of their games in 2017, and returning it’s largest senior class will set them up to make another .500 run in 2018.
