The NFL's pass interference review rule will stay in quarantine when the league returns to action.

That is according to a report from the NFL Network. Judy Battista reporting that the league's competition committee will vote to leave the rule behind this spring.

Last season the rule was put in place following outcry after the now infamous "New Orleans No Call" in the NFL title game where the Ram's Nickell Robey-Coleman was not flagged for an obvious pass interference in the final minutes of the Saints' NFC Championship loss. Last spring the the rule had a strong backing from the teams, being passed 31-1.

The rule was a bit of a disaster this fall. It was inconsistently applied, lack clarity and rarely produced overturns. Players and coaches heavily scrutinized it throughout the year.

The NFL's competition committee meets to vote in May.
