(KATC) — Ragin’ Cajuns baseball has managed to raise its league worst batting average by 13 percentage points in the last week after compiling 50 hits over a five game stretch.

Teurlings Catholic product Hayden Cantrelle has been one of the biggest reasons for the surge. Cantrelle went 11 of 21 at the plate with 3 homers and 5 RBI over the stretch.

The power surge saw the Louisiana sophomore jump from the eighth to the fourth best batting average on the team.

Coach Tony Robichaux hopes the road success can translate to Russo Park beginning on Tuesday when the Cajuns take on Northwestern State.

“We just have to continue to swing the bat and swing it consistently,” Robichaux said.  “We’ve always swung it well on the road. I think we just have to swing it better at home. The thing is we’re more physical on the road. We come into our ball park, we’re not as physical.”
