Franklin Senior High is celebrating a playoffs win for the Hornets, something the school hasn’t seen in decades.

Franklin, the 23 seed in the Class 2A playoffs, upset 10th-ranked Red River 16-13 in the bi-district round.

Friday’s victory is only the fourth playoff win in school history and the school’s first playoff win since 1996. That year, they beat Morgan City in the Class 4A bi-district playoffs by the score of 28-7.

Their other playoff victories came in 1995 (over West Ouachita, 19-14) and in 1970 (over St. Martinville, 42-0).

Last Friday’s game was Franklin’s first playoff appearance since 2013. It is also their tenth overall playoff appearance.

Franklin will host #7 Kinder in the regional round Friday night at 7 p.m.

The school is gearing up for the game, inviting the Hornets fans to support the team to victory. Information on the game can be viewed below.
