LAFAYETTE (KATC) — Les Miles and Archie Manning were in Lafayette on Wednesday night at Oakbourne Country Club speaking at a fundraising dinner for the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.

Next summer, Miles will join Manning’s son, Peyton, as part of the 2019 hall of fame induction class — making the Mannings just the second father and son duo with the honor.

Wednesday night both men took time out to reflect on some of their own favorite Louisiana sports memories.

“Well it means a lot to Peyton of course,” said Manning. “Peyton takes great pride in growing up in New Orleans and playing high school football there. He loves to come home. When Peyton found out that he and I will be the second father son tandem, I guess to go into the Louisiana Hall of Fame, that’s really special to both of us.”

“Taking a team onto the field in Tiger Stadium is one of the most special things I’ll have ever done,” said Miles. “The young men that I coached and the afternoons that I spent on the practice fields there, just a joy.”
