Press Release

Louisiana Football kicked off Training Camp 2018 on Friday, August 3, with their first full practice of fall camp, which doubled as first year head coach Billy Napier‘s first fall practice at Louisiana.

IT’S ABOUT TIME: After a long off-season, with Louisiana working hard during the spring and summer, the time finally came for a new season and the Ragin’ Cajuns hit the ground running.

Today’s practice, with Louisiana practicing in just helmets on the practice fields adjacent to the Donald and Janice Mosing Student-Athlete Performance Center, began as the sun set behind Cajun Field, creating a great atmosphere for Louisiana to get things rolling for 2018.

FIRST TIME FOR COACH: Friday’s practice marks the official beginning of coach Napier’s first season at the helm of Louisiana.  During Thursday’s media day coach Napier talked about what he’s seen during the summer and how the team is ready for the season.

"We have made progress in terms of the chemistry, unity and togetherness that you associate with playing championship football," said Napier.

ONE MONTH TO GO: Louisiana opens up the 2018 regular season on September 1, when they host Grambling at Cajun Field during the 17th Annual Herbert Heymann Classic with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m.  It’s the first of six Saturday home games at Cajun Field throughout the season, with Coastal Carolina coming to Lafayette on Sept. 22 for the second home game during the month of September.

TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE: Both individual tickets and season tickets are available for purchase by either heading to ragincajuns.com/tickets, by calling the Louisiana Athletics Ticket Office at the Cajundome, (337) 265-2357, or by visiting the office in person.
