PRESS RELEASE

LAFAYETTE — Three Lafayette gymnasts from Trampoline and Tumbling Express qualified for the 2018 USA Gymnastics National Trampoline Team to compete in the 33rd World Trampoline Championships in St. Petersburg, Russia this fall. Alexi Shostak, Savannah Vinsant Thompson and Nicole Ahsinger made the cut by winning medals at the USAG National Gymnastics Championships this weekend in Greensboro, NC.

Coached by World Champion and Olympian Dmitri Poliaroush, 2012 Olympian Vinsant Thompson won the Women’s Trampoline event by edging out teammate and 2016 Olympian Ahsinger for the National Championship title. Shostak took the silver medal in the Men’s Trampoline event. Shostak will compete for the USA in two events in the 2018 World Trampoline Championships: Men’s Trampoline and Men’s Synchronized with his synchro partner and current US Men’s National Champion, Jeffrey Gluckstein from New Jersey.

A fourth gymnast from Trampoline and Tumbling Express scored well at USAG National Championships. Sara Webster placed 4th in the Women’s Trampoline event, but just missed qualifying for the National team. Poliaroush is very proud. “They all performed strong and polished routines. The US will have a strong team competing in Russia, and a third of the national trampoline team is from Lafayette.” The 33rd World Trampoline Championships will be held in St. Petersburg
