Crane dominates, as Cajuns fall to Troy 10-1

LAFAYETTE, La. – Sadler Goodwin hit his first career home run and grand slam as he drove in six RBI in Troy’s 10-1 win over Louisiana on Thursday night at the Sun Belt baseball tournament.

Goodwin only had two hits but made the most of his at-bats. He has eight RBI in the tournament, second only to Coastal’s Zach Biermann and Louisiana’s Hunter Kasuls.

Brandon Lockridge went 3-for-6 with an RBI and and run scored and Rigsby Mosley was 1-for-3 with three walks and three runs scored. Eight of Troy’s 10 runs came with two outs in the inning. The Trojans (40-18) scored one in the second, three in the fifth and five in the eighth inning in the dispatching of the homestanding Cajuns.

Austin Crane (7-4) went eight innings, alloign one run on four hits while striking out 10. Jackson Cofer pitched a scoreless ninth, striking out the side to end the game. Troy finished with 13 strikeouts, a tournament high.

Louisiana (34-24) struggled offensively on Thursday evening, over 12 hours after they pounded Little Rock for 19 runs on 15 hits in the resumption game from Wednesday night. Against Troy, the Cajuns were limited by Crane to just four hits and was out hit by the Trojans, 13-4.

Daniel Lahare had two of Louisiana’s four hits and Zach LaFleur drove in the only run for the Cajuns.

Troy earns a day off after beating the Cajuns and will await the winner of the Louisiana/Texas State game, scheduled for Friday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m. (CT) in the second of two elimination games.
