Second Harvest Food Bank and the Opelousas Police Department teamed up on Wednesday to hand out food boxes to residents in need.

It's Second Harvest's second box drive-in in the parish this week.

Thursday, food will be distributed in Port Barre.

Community leaders and volunteers helped out with the distribution on Wednesday.

"We love our city, Opelousas. We have some good folks here and we want to just let everyone know that we still care," explained attorney and community volunteer Ledricka Thierry. "We want to keep people in good spirits and know that we'll get through this."
