Rebound: Gap Year

As virtual and in-person graduations are starting to wrap up for spring 2020, students are beginning to re-evaluate their future college plans because of the impact of COVID-19.

With so much uncertainty around higher education, surveys show between 15-20 percent of students are choosing to take a gap year.

Experts say that's more than three times the average amount, but that gap can help develop skills to benefit students if they decide to go to college.

"Maybe being exposed to different communities, different ideas, different ways of life that they might not have been exposed to in their families or in their hometowns," explained Sarah Harte, director of "The Dorm."
