The 17th annual Acadiana Diversity Job Fair will take place virtually on Thursday, October 15.
The Lafayette Economic Development Authority says that dozens of regional employers and resource providers are expected to participate.
The 2020 event will be conducted virtually from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. via the Brazen online software.
According to LEDA, the web-based software allows job seekers to create a profile and upload a resume before the event. During the event job seekers will be able to participate in text-based chats with hiring managers via smartphone, tablet, or desktop.
“The Acadiana Diversity Job has expanded to connect employers with a diverse applicant pool including persons with disabilities, workers from all ethnic backgrounds, re-entry candidates, and more,” says Ryan LaGrange, Manager of Workforce Development with LEDA. “Every year, we hear success stories following the job fair from both job seekers and employers. This event continues to have a tremendous impact on the community.”
The event is planned and hosted by Acadiana Workforce Solutions, the Acadiana Society of Human Resource Management (ASHRM), Employment Solutions, Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA), and Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC).
“ASHRM looks forward to sponsoring this event every year because it creates an opportunity to connect employers with diverse candidates they may not see at other events,” says Sadie Polk, Diversity and Workforce Readiness Director with ASHRM. “Older workers and candidates with disabilities or criminal backgrounds often face challenges when seeking employment and this job fair was designed to help overcome some of those.”
The Acadiana Diversity Job Fair is free to job seekers.
Online registration is available at www.lafayette.org/diversity.
Job seekers should register via Brazen and fully complete their profiles, including uploading their resumes.
The online list of participating employers is updated daily.
