LAFAYETTE — Dana O’Boye scored the lone goal of the match on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute and Arkansas State held on for a 1-0 victory over the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns in a Sun Belt Conference women’s soccer match on Friday at the A-State Soccer Complex.

In a match that featured three shots on goal in a combined 16 attempts at the net, O’Boye took advantage of a foul called on Louisiana inside the 18-yard box. Her penalty kick attempt got past Louisiana goalkeeper Mackenzie Lee to give A-State a 1-0 lead.

Sarah Sodoma, Victoria MacIntosh and Maggie Ertl attempted a pair of shots each for the Red Wolves, who held a 9-7 advantage in shots. Karleen Bedre and Olivia Gelpi each attempted a pair of shots for Louisiana with Gelpi notching the Ragin’ Cajuns lone attempt on goal.

Lee recorded one save for Louisiana, who attempted all seven shots in the second half. Alexis Arnoult, Una Einarsdottir and Telly Vunipola each were credited with a shot.

Louisiana will return to action on Sunday when it visits Little Rock in a 1 p.m., contest at the Coleman Sports and Recreation Complex. Live results and live video will be available at RaginCajuns.com.
