Pope Francis to hold moment of prayer for world amid coronavirus threat

Pope Francis is expected to preside over a "universal moment of prayer" on Friday at St. Peter's Basicilica in Rome.

According to Vatican News, that moment of prayer which is being done because of the current threat of coronavirus worldwide, will consist of readings from the Scriptures, prayers of supplication, and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament; and will conclude with Pope Francis giving the Urbi et orbi Blessing, with the possibility of gaining a plenary indulgence for all those who listen to it live through the various forms of communication.

This blessing "to the City of Rome and to the World" is normally only given on Christmas and Easter, according to the Vatican.

The moment of prayer is expected to be live streamed at 6:00 pm in Rome, 12:00 noon CST and can be viewed below.
