The entire town of Gueydan and locations around the city have now had their electricity restored.

Power was out for several hours and was expected to be restored by 8:00 pm on Friday. Mayor of Gueydan Jude Reese says that it was expected to be restored by 9:30 but was back on by 9:00 p.m.

Reese says that the cause of the outage was a main transmission line along the interstate that was down. Entergy crews were able to restore power to some of the surrounding towns a few hours after the outage. Reese says that he was in contact with crews on the ground that were working to fix the issue.

"Power grids are being brought on line one at a time. Give it about 30 minutes," he said in a post at around 9:00 p.m. Friday.

The Town purchases power through CLECO which uses and Entergy line. Reese says communications with the companies on what happened and when power will be restored has been very limited. He expects to speak with officials from both companies once this issue is resolved.

Reese says that he has made calls to different places affected by the outage including a nursing home in town. The mayor contiued to update residents on the Facebook page for the Town of Gueydan. Earlier this evening, he posted about the outage and gave a estimated time of 8:00 pm for power to be restored.

"Update on power outage! It could be as late as 8 o’clock. Entergy is on site repairing their transmission lines. Once again thank you for your patience and god bless you all!" the mayor said in a post on Facebook.

KATC has reached out to Entergy on more information on the outage cause.

A post from Reese was posted earlier Friday afternoon. That image is below:
