Tropical showers on the way for the weekend

This wet pattern we've found ourselves in continues for yet another day this Thursday.

A few isolated coastal showers will give way to some downpours scattered across the area by the end of the day.

Temperatures will be right where we left them with a heat index soaring into the upper 90s through the afternoon.

A big surge of tropical moisture is still expected to push in from the Gulf of Mexico with heavier showers arriving on Friday.

Rain totals for the weekend are in the 1-3" range, however, there are going to be some spots that can catch up to 5" in isolated areas.

A moisture plume like this, rooted in the Gulf of Mexico, can be a very efficient rain maker so expect torrential rain at times.

As of Thursday morning it looks like the worst rain will stay offshore but that should be monitored over the next few days.

Flooding will be the biggest issue with this system especially for communities down along the coast.
