The National Hurricane Center has started issuing advisories on Tropical Depression 25, which formed mid Friday morning and starting a long slow crawl into the southern Gulf of Mexico.

Gradual strengthening is expected over the next 24 hour as it approaches the Yucatan Peninsula, before crawling into the Bay of Campeche.

At this time it is not a threat to Louisiana and consensus is that the dry air we're experiencing now will keep this system to the south and force it into Mexico.

That being said, if this storm is able to sit and fester down there with no land interaction then more attention will need to be paid attention to the storm particularly if it drifts north.

We are very early on in the forecasting process but we should become more confident in the forecast as we get more data on this storm.

Be sure to stay tuned to KATC for the very latest.
