ST MARY PARISH , La. - The Coast Guard has suspended its search for an overdue vessel and turned the investigation over to local authorities.
The man aboard left Cypremort Point and was scheduled to arrive at Marsh Island Thursday afternoon.
The vessel was located one mile south from Cypremort Point around 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The boater was not found.
The Coast Guard conducted a search by air and sea. Wild Life and Fisheries, Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office and St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Parish Office all assisted in the search.
Authorities will now conduct a recovery effort.
