ST MARY PARISH , La. - The Coast Guard and local agencies are searching for one person aboard an overdue vessel in Vermillion Bay on Friday.
The man aboard left Cypremort Point and was scheduled to arrive at Marsh Island Thursday afternoon.
The vessel is a tan and white 17-foot Boston Whaler with a trawling system off the stern was located 1 mile south from Cypremort Point at around 2:00 p.m. The boater was not found.
Currently the Coast Guard is conducting a search by air and sea. Wild Life and Fisheries, Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office and St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Parish Office are all assisting the search.
All parties are still out on scene, and will continue until nightfall.
