The St. Landry Parish government officials are asking people to stay off the roads.

"St. Landry Parish's president, sheriff, mayors, and chiefs of Police are encouraging all residents not to drive over the next few days until the roads thaw. Driving conditions will be dangerous as ice forms on the road," a Facebook post states. "The National Weather Service is predicting ice of up to one inch possible in St. Landry Parish making driving near impossible. The ice may not begin to thaw until late Tuesday or Wednesday. If citizens need to drive, please use care, drive slowly, watch for black ice on the roadways, allow more stopping room, and do not use cruise control."

Here are some road closures reported across the parish:
(Sunday 11:50 pm) - The overpass in Sunset on Hwy 182 is being closed at this time due to ice.

(Monday 1:30 AM) - I-10 is closed in both directions from LA 347 (Henderson) to LA 3000 (Ramah) due to winter weather conditions until further notice. Motorists on I-10 West are being diverted at LA 415 North to US 190 West. Motorists on I-10 East are being diverted at I-49 North to US 190 East.

(Monday 2:30AM) - Ice on I-10 Eastbound near I-49 Northbound (103) . All Lanes Closed.

A shelter is open, and is in need of donations:

"St. Landry's Shelter at the Yambilee Building is in need of donated items to help keep shelter residents warm. The shelter is starting to fill up and donated blankets, coats, pillows, and gloves have all been claimed. If you care to donate something, call the EOC at 337-948-3688 and we'll arrange to have them picked up. Thank you to all who have already donated," a post on the city's Facebook page states.
