Closures due to February winter weather in Acadiana

Below are current closures reported due to winter weather that is expected to the hit the Acadiana area on Monday, February 15, 2021. A number of locations will also be closed in observation of the Mardi Gras holiday which is Tuesday February 16, 2021.

As a reminder, schools are out Monday and Tuesday for holiday break. They will not be listed below.

State

Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne is announcing that state offices will be closed statewide Monday, February 15, as a winter storm passes through the area.

All agency heads are responsible for determining those essential personnel who should remain on duty, report for duty or those who should report to alternate work sites as necessary. Officials continue to monitor conditions throughout the state, and this announcement may be updated.

This office closure applies to all nonessential employees, including those authorized to work from home due to COVID-19.

LSU will be closed on Monday, Feb. 15, due to the forecast of severe weather. Classes and activities scheduled for Monday -- whether in-person or virtual -- are cancelled. However, the LSU Vet School and the LSU Law Center will both hold classes virtually on Monday.

LSU will also be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 16, for the previously scheduled Mardi Gras holiday.

The closure includes the LSU Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool. LSU Online students should check with their Learner Concierge or faculty member for more information on those 100% online programs.

LSU bus service will also be suspended on Monday. LSU residence halls, on-campus apartments and dining halls will remain open. For more information, click here.

Acadia Parish

The City of Crowley announced Friday, February 12 that all non-essential city offices will be closed on Monday, February 15. They will reopen after the Mardi Gras holiday on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

The Assist Office in Crowley will be closed on Monday, February 15, 2021 due to the forecast of severe weather. The offics will also be closed on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 for the Mardi Gras holiday. Offices will reopen Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

Mermentau City Hall will be closed on Monday February 15 due to winter weather. City hall will remain closed on Tuesday.

Calcasieu Parish

All Calcasieu Parish Police Jury offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 15. It has already been announced that Police Jury offices will be closed Tuesday, Feb. 16 for Mardi Gras. As a result, all parish offices will reopen Wednesday, Feb. 17, weather permitting.

Cameron Parish

Due to the latest severe weather advisory, the Cameron Parish Police Jury Office will be closed to the public thru Wednesday. They will continue to handle parish business and be available by phone and email.

Evangeline Parish

Iberia Parish
The City of New Iberia announced Friday that all non-essential city offices will be closed on Monday, February 15 due to inclement weather. Offices include city hall, city park, the public works department and waste water department offices.City offices will re-open on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 after the Mardi Gras holiday.

The Teche Area Farmer's Market (Bouligny Plaza) usually held on Saturday mornings and Tuesday afternoon, will be postponed until next Saturday, February 20, 2021 starting at 7:00am.

Iberia Comprehensive Community Health Center in New Iberia and its satellite sites in Abbeville, Lafayette, St. Martinville, Leesville, Many, and Merryville will be closed on Monday, 2/16, due to predicted dangerous road conditions caused by the upcoming winter weather storm. Clinics will reopen on Wednesday, 2/17, after the Mardi Gras holiday.

Jeff Davis Parish

The Assist Office in Jennings will be closed on Monday, February 15, 2021 due to the forecast of severe weather. The office will also be closed on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 for the Mardi Gras holiday. Offices will reopen Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

Lafayette Parish

Monday, February 15 - 8:30 am - LFT is closed due to icy conditions. Please contact your airline directly for your flight status.

Due to the forecast for winter precipitation early next week Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Department of Public Works Transit Division will not provide Daytime, Night Owl, or Para-transit bus service on Monday, February 15, 2021. Services are also no available on Tuesday, February 16 due to the Mardi Gras holiday. Transit services will resume regular schedules on Wedneday, February 17.

Para-transit transports will only be provided on Monday for critical-care patients needing transport to Dialysis treatment.

The Lafayette Council on Aging says Meals on Wheels will not run on Monday, February 15 due to weather conditions or on Tuesday, February 16, due to the Mardi Gras holiday.

The Lafayette Parish Library Board meeting scheduled for Monday, February 15, has been postponed because of expected wintry precipitation. It will be rescheduled.

Acadiana Women's Health Group located at 4640 Ambassador Caffery will close Monday February 15th due to weather and remain closed Tuesday for the Mardi Gras holiday. Operations will resume on Wednesday.

St. Landry Parish
The City of Eunice will be closing departments on Monday due to extreme weather conditions expected. They will open following the Mardi Gras holiday on Wednesday February 17, 2021.

The City of Opelousas says that after considering all the elements related to the winter storm that the city will be confronting, as well as for the safety of all employees, business offices at City Hall and throughout the city will be closed on Monday, February 15. Only essential personnel in street, water and sewer departments, along with first responders (police and fire) scheduled to work, will be on duty

St. Martin Parish
The St. Martin Council on Aging says they will not deliver meals on Monday, February 15 due to impending weather conditions. SMCOA will also be closed on Tuesday, February 16 in observance of the Mardi Gras holiday. Services resume Wednesday.

St. Martinville City Hall will be closed Monday, February 15th due to weather

St. Mary Parish
Teche Action Clinic which has offices in St. Mary Parish says it will be closed on Monday due to weather conditions. They will reopen after Mardi Gras.

Vermilion Parish

The Vermilion Parish School Board Central Office Main Building will be closed at 3:30 today as we will be shutting down all systems and water for cold-weather preparation during the break.
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week all schools and central office buildings will be closed. All extracurricular events on Sunday and Monday are being postponed at this time due to the forecasted weather conditions from the National Weather Service.

The Assist Office in Abbeville will be closed on Monday, February 15, 2021 due to the forecast of severe weather. The office will also be closed on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 for the Mardi Gras holiday. Offices will reopen Wednesday, February 17, 2021.
