The St. Landry School Board's committees are meeting today and tomorrow to discuss a variety of subjects.
All of the meetings will be held at the St. Landry Parish School Board Resource Center on Creswell Lane.
Today, starting at 4 p.m., the board's Finance Committee, Buildings, Lands and Sites Committee; and the Executive Committee meet.
During the Finance Committee meeting, board members are set to hear monthly reports on Head Start finances and the district's budget and payroll.
The Buildings, Lands and Sites Committee will hear a report on damages sustained from Hurricane Delta. Also on the agenda is a request from the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office to use the vacant Southwest Elementary School. The sheriff's office wants to use the building for training for deputies - for instance searching or active shooter drills - while it is unoccupied.
Another item on the agenda is discussion of the possible sale of a piece of property the board owns on Creswell Lane.
The Executive Committee is slated to discuss a proposed policy that would cover use of technology for remote learning and work; a proposed policy that would cover remote school board meeting attendance during an emergency; a proposed policy that would adjust the board's bid and quote policy to align with state law; and a proposed policy change that would require schools to provide students with verification of their driver's ed attendance.
Tomorrow, the Academic Committee and the Personnel, Employee Benefit and Transportation Committee meet, starting at 4 p.m.
The Academic Committee will hear reports on Head Start, ACT scores, Career and Tech Ed, the Oxford Teaching Academy, Special Education and Virtual Learning.
The Personnel Committee will discuss Head Start job descriptions and salary scales, and personnel changes for the month.
