BIG CANE, La. — Firefighters from several agencies responded to a brush fire Wednesday in St. Landry Parish.
The fire, which was reported on October 4, 2023, at approximately 3 pm, prompted a parish-wide response from fire, rescue and law enforcement agencies.
As of 10 a.m. Thursday, no injuries had been reported.
Last week, St. Landry Parish Government opted out of the statewide burn ban. This fire started as a legal burn, but a sudden increase in wind caused the fire to leap into the nearby forested area, officials say.
