St. Landry Parish Council members raised questions again about hiring of a new chief administrative officer to help while the parish president remains on sick leave, according to The Daily World. One councilperson arguing the salary could be used for other purposes.

"I have constituents who are sometimes forced to park at the end of the road to get to their houses," said Councilmember Mildred Thierry. "I just think we need to focus spending that money for the benefit of our constituents."

The council is considering hiring another employee at a salary of at least $77,000 to help cover for Parish President Bill Fontenot, who continues to receive his annual salary of $105,000 while on medical leave.
