CYPREMORT POINT — Areas that were once in Tropical Storm Cristobal's path are seeing very little impact.

Cypremort Point is no stranger to storms, which is why some who live there were paying close attention.

"Most thought, looking at it, of course, when it was still on Yucatan, it was pointed right at Vermilion Bay. It was a long ways to go, but we started prepping," said longtime resident Don Meaux. "I guess a lot of us started prepping early. Everybody thought it was going to be another Barry."

Meaux knows last year's Hurricane Barry brought in five feet of water, damaging the local store and fishing piers.

With Cristobal, however, the water is staying at bay.

"Actually, with that north winds right now, our water is lower than normal, which is good, so we dodged the bullet," said Meaux. "I feel sorry for the people to the east, of course."

The Cypremort Point homeowner says although the storm spared them, it's best to be prepared.

"It's something you do every time because you just don't know," said Meaux. "Like I was saying the other day, I stay tuned to KATC for the latest."
