There are few things as synonymous with a German Fest than beer. Malty, hoppy beer.
Lawrence Cramer, a home brewer who has studied German beers, says that when it comes to the German style it's al about the balance.
"All the flavors are balanced, that's a good beer, between the malt and the hops."
Cramer took his first trip to Germany over a decade ago and has been trying to perfect the craft ever since, and looking for inspiration by a brewing competition held just before the festival.
"We had entries from across the country, and one from Colorado and he had best in show. He made a very good Dublebock."
The German Fest in Rober's Cove this weekend will have all these different beers on display this weekend, along with some of the usual suspects.
So grab a stein and Prost, it's German Fest
