The El Paso man who lost his wife in the shooting on August 3 extended an open invitation to anyone who wanted to attend his wife's vigil and funeral.

Antonio Basco didn't have any other family members to be with him when he said goodbye to his wife of 22 years, Margie Reckard.

3,000 people paid their respects on Friday night.

ABC News reports that strangers came from all over to support Basco.

Hundreds were also expected to attend her funeral Saturday morning.

The response to Reckard's funeral was so great that the funeral home moved her service to a larger venue.

Basco was overwhelmed by the support shown to him.

"it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I love El Paso and I'm glad to be your family. Thank you very much. I got the world's largest family."
