HOUSTON, TX (KTRK) — In an interview with ABC13 in Houston, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said he regrets making a trip to Cancun, Mexico while thousands remain without power and running water after a record-breaking winter storm hit Texas.
Cruz sat down with ABC13's Tom Abrahams after his return to Houston and said that he was trying to be a good dad and regretted the decision as soon as he got on the plane.
Cruz returned to the U.S. Thursday after he traveled to Mexico for a family vacation on Wednesday as his home state grapples with a weather crisis.
After he returned home, Cruz told reporters that he "made a mistake" and that he started having "second thoughts" as soon as he boarded the plane on Wednesday. Cruz added that his family lost power for two days, prompting his daughters to make a request to go someplace warm.
