McDonald's to provide free "Thank You Meals" to healthcare workers and first responders

McDonald's announced on Tuesday, April 21, that their restaurants across the country will offer free "Thank You Meals" to healthcare workers and first responders between Wednesday, April 22 and Tuesday, May 5.

The company says the gesture is meant as a token of appreciation for the selfless service of all those helping to fight COVID-19.

The "Thank You Meals" will be made available via drive-thru and carry out at participating McDonald's restaurants across the country.

According to a press release, the Thank You Meal, will be available during breakfast, lunch or dinner and feature a choice of sandwiches, drinks, and a side along with a note of appreciation.

Breakfast

  • A choice of an Egg McMuffin®, Chicken McGriddles® or a Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit. All options come with any size soft drink, tea or hot coffee and a Hash Brown.

Lunch and Dinner

  • A choice of a Double Cheeseburger, 6-Piece Chicken McNuggets® or a Filet-O-Fish® will be offered. All options come with any size soft drink, tea or hot coffee and small fries.

Meals will be served in McDonald's iconic Happy Meal box, the company says, "in the hopes of bringing a smile along with delicious food."

McDonald's says frontline heroes can simply show their work badge, or be in uniform to receive a free meal.

Meals will be limited to one per person per day.
