Law enforcement sources are claiming that the kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl in The Bronx on Monday was staged, according to CNN.

Karol Sanchez was walking with her mother near East 156th Street on Monday night when they were approached by a beige sedan, the NYPD said.

The car stopped and two men got out and grabbed the teenager. Police added the men "dragged her inside the car and pushed her mother to the ground."

Karol allegedly walked to the address that she and her mother were initially going to Monday night. Police were then called to pick Karol up.

A source tells CNN that Karol knew at least one of the people involved in the kidnapping, but didn't provide other details or a motive.

An Amber Alert went out to New York City residents early Tuesday morning.

The NYPD tweeted on Tuesday that Karol had been found, saying "WE HAVE A VICTORY TODAY !! Karol has been found !!! Thank you to all who have worked very hard to track down the people involved in this case !!!"
