Pilot involved in plane crash on Friday released from hospital

The pilot that was involved in a plane crash south of Kaplan on Friday night has been released from a local hospital, according to a Lafayette General Health spokesperson.

Vermilion Parish Sheriff's PIO Major Daryl Leblanc said that pilot experienced loss of power in his plane and attempted to make an emergency landing. The plane caught on a power line, causing the crash.

The pilot sustained minor to moderate injuries.

Initially, around 100 customers lost power due to the crash, but power was restored soon after.

The NTSB and FAA have been notified of the crash and are expected to investigate.
