The Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office confirms that a small aircraft crashed in a field on the north side of West Liberty Farm Road just east of Lomire Road.
The pilot was found to have minor to moderate injuries and was transported to Kaplan ER for treatment.
The pilot told police he was traveling from Houston to New Iberia when he lost all power in the aircraft. He was attempting to make an emergency landing when the plane caught on a power line and caused the plane to crash.
The FAA and NTSB have been notified of the crash.
SLEMCO's outage map currently shows no outages in the area.
Witnesses told KATC power was out and SLEMCO's map initially showed around 100 people out of power.
