The Coast Guard medevaced a 59-year-old man from a supply vessel Sunday afternoon.

The ship was approximately 57 miles offshore of Vermilion Bay when the man began having symptoms of a heart attack. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders were called, and the duty flight surgeon recommended the medevac.

An Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was launched to the scene, where the helicopter crew hoisted and transferred the mariner to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.

The man was reported to be in stable condition.
