On Thursday, September 5, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and St. Mary Parish officials will host a "Bear Proofing" forum.
The public forum will address black bear issues for people living north of US 90 in the parish.
LDWF and the St. Mary Black Bear Conflict Office will be on hand to teach residents how to bear proof homes and neighborhoods.
The meeting will take place on the 5th floor of the St. Mary Parish Courthouse from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Topics of discussion include:
- Bear Proofing your home & neighborhood
- LDWF abatement efforts
- Ordinance for the proper use of Wildlife-Resistant Refuse Containers
- Ordinance outlining refuse container's placement for service
