St. Martinville woman arrested on government benefits fraud charge

Investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office have arrested a woman on a government benefits fraud charge.

Following a report into the alleged misuse of government funds by a St. Martinville woman, investigators arrested Lashaundra Michelle McAllister, 36.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that McAllister received over $7,000 in SNAP benefits from 2017-2019 based on false information she provided to authorities with the Department of Children and Family Services.

Following her arrest, she was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on one count of Government Benefits Fraud.

At this time, no bond has been set.
