Lafayette man arrested on multiple drug charges

Officers with the St. Martin Parish Police Department have arrested a Lafayette man on multiple drug charges.

Police say on Saturday, November 9, around 12:40 a.m., Lewis Mitchel of Lafayette was arrested as a result of a narcotics investigation.

Lewis was arrested on a warrant for the charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I, Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II, two counts of Criminal Conspiracy, and Violation of Uniform Controlled Substances Law; drug free zone.

While executing the warrant, officers discovered Lewis was in possession of Clonazepam and crack cocaine. He was additionally charged with Possession of Schedule IV, Possession Schedule II, Violation of Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substances Law; drug free zone, and two counts of Criminal Conspiracy.

Mitchel was transported and is booked in the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.
