St. Landry Parish has extended the parishwide adult and juvenile curfew until May 15 to coincide with Governor Edwards' Stay at Home order. Parish government has adjusted the curfew hours; it is now from 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. daily.

All pedestrian and vehicular movement is prohibited during curfew hours except for travel associated with fire, police, emergency, and hospital services. Only employees working for companies or businesses listed as essential in Governor John Bel Edwards' executive order will be allowed to travel during curfew hours.

The City of Opelousas updated on Thursday regarding the city's curfew; all businesses within city limits, with the exception of a hospital or private ambulance service, will be closed from 10 p.m. - 5 a.m.

The Opelousas Police Department will continue providing modified services and procedures to limit exposure. The department's "In-Progress/High-Priority Dispatch" protocol will continue through May 15. Citizens should call 911 for priority emergency calls. Low priority crime calls or non-emergencies will be handled by an officer over the phone; residents should call 337-948-2500. Anyone wanting to report criminal activity can email crimetips@opelousaspd.com. OPD has closed its buildings for public access until further notice.

The Stay at Home order was extended this week until May 15, as Louisiana works to slow the spread of COVID-19.
