UPDATE: Major Mark Guidry tells KATC that the pedestrian struck by a vehicle Friday night while crossing a highway is now in stable condition and is recovering.
ORIGINAL STORY: Opelousas Police are investigating a pedestrian crash in the 1100 block of N. Main St.
According to OPD Spokesman Major Mark Guidry, a 59-year-old pedestrian was hit Friday night while crossing the highway. The victim is being transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Police believe impairment on the part of the pedestrian may have played a role in the incident, but chemical test results are pending.
There have been no charges at this time.
