A young man from Opelousas is working hard to make sure those in his community who are in need are cared for this holiday season.

Courtland Reed hosts his food drive every year - this is the 10th.

He and his crew set up at Sons Automotive Exchange, holding signs and encouraging passersby to stop and donate canned goods.

Reed begins the process with advertising. He hands out flyers and posters to local businesses to get the word out. Then he does interviews to speak more about his mission.

Food that is collected goes to Icons Food Bank in Opelousas.

Reed said he hopes that what people take from his organization is "gratitude and thankfulness." He hopes those who can support themselves are thankful for that fact.

His favorite part is helping the needy, Reed said. It's "really fun."
