Opelousas Police have arrested one man on multiple charges of second degree rape along with several other charges.
Police say that on December 2, around 2:30 p.m., officers with the police department investigated a complaint regarding a possible sexual assault in the 2200 block of Creswell Lane in Opelousas.
An investigation resulted in the discovery of several instances of sexual assault that were committed by Joseph H. Senegal, Jr. upon a minor child that was frequently in the presence of Senegal.
The assaults occurred at multiple locations in Opelousas dating back to September 2019. During one or more of the assaults, the victim was forcibly imprisoned for periods of time.
Senegal was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on six counts of second degree rape and one count each of false imprisonment, simple battery, and simple assault.
