A new concert series in Opelousas has residents looking forward to Friday night. "Groovin' on the green" is the newest way Frank's Poboys and Attorney Pride Doran, have joined to unite the community.
The concert series allows those in attendance to enjoy good music, food, and drinks on Friday nights.
"We tried to think about, what we could do to bring a little liveliness to downtown Opelousas. Give folks a way to beat the heat, a way to socialize and mingle and enjoy and enjoy a little family fun and good music," Doran said.
Bands from around the area are apart of the series, others like Friday nights artist are from outside of Acadiana. Maggie Belle is from New Orleans, and her voice offered a new vibe to the city and captured everyone around.
"That's what we're hoping. To provide them with something wholesome and fun to do, as well as bring people together from different walks of life," Doran said.
The concert series is every other Friday and attendees are pleased that organizers recognized that Downtown Opelousas could benefit from this type of free event.
"I love that he does this for the bands and for the people, it's a great time, I'm impressed with Opelousas," David Pomerleau said.
