Local groups are helping children rebound during the pandemic.

Building Better Families partnered with the United Way, Bully Box, and Nunu's Creole Traditions to provide free meals to children in the community Saturday at the Opelousas Civic Center.

The boxed lunches included hamburgers and even a toy.

Organizers say it's just one way they can put smiles on families' faces.

"It's very important, especially in these times with COVID-19 going on, we want to relieve some stress from these families and give back to our community," explained Jeremy Richard, Executive Director of Building Better Families.
